The beauty of Longboat Key – aside from its breathtaking beaches – is that it offers a little something for everyone without being overwhelming. When it comes to shopping and dining, you'll find great options no matter what your style.

Casual on the Key

You're hungry, but don't want to blow your vacation budget and definitely don't want to get dressed up. Your options?

Open for dinner only, Ciao! Italia serves up casual Italian fare in an intimate setting. For seafood, The Lazy Lobster's Longboat Key location (the other is in Sarasota) serves up lunch and dinner favorites.

Moore's Stone Crab is known for its stone crab claws (available seasonally) and enviable waterfront setting. Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant and Pub is popular with locals and tourists-in-the-know. You'll dine with your feet practically in Sarasota Bay.

Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, Harry's Continental Kitchen can cook up your fresh-caught fish and serve it on the outdoor patio. This local institution also has a deli, bakery, catering and a casual corner store.

Upscale and Unforgettable

The classy yet unpretentious atmosphere of Longboat Key lends itself to seriously fine dining.

For a romantic dinner, Euphemia Haye Restaurant and Haye Loft is a multiple-award-winning dining experience. Indulge in its famous roasted duck entrée and head upstairs to the loft for dessert.

For an outstanding view of the inlet as well as the Gulf of Mexico, try The Chart House. This upscale chain serves up great seafood along with the view.

Shopping for All

While Longboat Key proper doesn't have anything in the way of shopping, you can max out your credit card at plenty of nearby locations.

For unique boutiques and local gifts, head to St. Armands Circle to the south or Bridge Street on Anna Maria Island to the north. Both locations have dozens of galleries, clothing stores, eateries and gift shops. St. Armands has several notable dining options (Columbia Restaurant, Crab & Fin, Cafe L'Europe) and recognizable store names (Ben & Jerry's, Starbucks, Tommy Bahama), while Bridge Street has a quirkier, casual beach vibe.

If you're willing to take a 40-minute drive, your efforts will be greatly rewarded with major discounts. Ellenton Premium Outlets has 130 name-brand stores offering their wares at outlet prices. Major labels include Banana Republic, Coach, Kate Spade, Movado, Michael Kors, Nike, Calvin Klein, BCBG Max Azria and many, many more. There's a food court and playground on site, and the outlet is convenient to I-75.
