Island Restaurants Honored in Culinary Hall of FameFlorida Trend’s Golden Spoon awards are coveted by the state’s best chefs and foodie favorites. Two of our own have cooked up enough innovative ideas to earn 25 golden utensils between them, and have since taken their seats in the magazine’s Hall of Fame. Chef Raymond Arpke of Euphemia Haye on Longboat Key, serving Global Eclectic cuisine, and Sean Murphy of Beach Bistro on Anna Maria Island, offering a New American menu, turn creativity into culinary art everyday. Representing two of the awards’ original members, Euphemia Haye and Beach Bistro were recognized for more than 12 years by Robert Tolf, former Food Editor at Florida Trend, for their fresh “golden” flavors. Upon Tolf’s departure, Arpke and Murphy served as emcees of the award’s annual dinner recognizing the state’s best-of-the-best, and enjoyed announcing culinary newcomers, Golden Spoon award winners, and new Hall of Fame inductees. This year, they look forward to maintaining their Hall of Fame status and taking their seat in the audience to be recognized by the publication’s new Food Editor, Chris Sherman. |
