Bradenton and the area islands of Anna Maria and Longboat Key offer visitors a glimpse of a rare sight over the Gulf Coast: A green flash of light that emerges around the time the sun sets or rises over the water. "Green flashes" -- or "green rays," as they're sometimes known -- are visible for a short period of time above the sun, as a green ray shoots up from the point of sunset or sunrise.
Many different locations in Florida’s Gulf Islands have areas from which you can see this phenomenon, such as decks of vacation homes on the water, local restaurants with outside areas facing the beach and local parks next to the water.
The Sun House Restaurant & Bar even offers a Green Flash Club, giving their customers rewards when they've accrued enough points. In addition, you'll receive special rewards for you birthday and anniversary.
