On the quaint island of Anna Maria, history is being made with the first platinum LEED and Zero Net Energy commercial park. Anna Maria Historic Green Village is a vision of Mike and Lizzie Thrasher, who moved here in 2003 from the United Kingdom. The collection of historic relics-turned-retail will be completely powered by solar energy and geothermics.
According to Lizzie, their mission is to “show people that a small island community can be a very modern place.” Completely restored to their original charm and open for business in the Anna Maria Historic Village Green on Pine Avenue are the following retailers:
Beach Bums – Boogie boards, snorkel gear, beachwear and sundries, as well as bike, kayak, cart and baby equipment rentals
Anna Maria General Store – Groceries, cold drinks, deli sandwiches, homemade cakes and home delivery
Village Café at Rosedale – Indoor/outdoor dining featuring coffee, baked goods, sandwiches, quiche and more
Relish Boutique – Vintage clothing and entertainment items, located in the Sears Cottage
These shops join Pink & Navy, Bella By The Sea, Anna Maria Olive Oil Outpost and others on Pine Avenue, which connects the beach to the 100-year-old Historic Anna Maria City Pier. Come see why the northern tip of this 1,800-resident city is quickly becoming a favorite among island shoppers.
